Project description

The association Libera Scuola Waldorf di Palermo, is a non-profit organisation, founded in 1986, to which teachers and parents belong with the aim to promote the pedagogy and the educational activities based on anthroposophy, and to implement other educational activities open to everybody, particularly children and young people who live in disadvantaged conditions. Volunteers will support the staff in following tasks:
– support to kids with learning difficulties or psycho-physical disabilities
– support in the school kitchen
– participation in artistic workshops (music, painting, theatre…) and leisure activities for kids
– preparation and participation in cultural events organised by the school and open to the local community
– promoting volunteering through events in local schools or youth centres (with InformaGiovani)
– writing on the volunteers’ blog (InformaGiovani)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteer will be hosted in shared room with another volunteer in shared flat. Flat is equipped with all needed (water, electricity, heating, furniture). Free wi-fi is available. Accommodation is located in city centre, and well connected with public transportation. Local transport tickets will be provided. Food will be provided through monthly cash allowance. Volunteers will receive monthly pocket money of € 150,00. Travel costs are covered on the basis of E+ distance band (between 500 and 1999 Km, up to € 275; from 2000 to 2999 Km up to €360; from 3000 to 3999, up to € 530).

Training during the project

On arrival training and Mid-Term Evaluation organised by Italian National Agency.

Volunteer profile

– aged 18-30 years
– strong motivation for working with disabled child
– ability to team working
– creativity, proactivity and flexibility
– artistic (e.g. music, painting, drawing) skills are welcome
– curiosity toward Steinerian pedagogy
– little knowledge of Italian language is welcome
